Submission Guidelines for Florida Fly Fishing Magazine

Please follow these guidelines to ensure simple, hassle-free posting in the magazine.
Variance from these may keep your contribution from being added.

FIRST OFF: Thank you for your interest in Florida Fly Fishing Magazine (F3M)! I want to let you know up front that we cannot pay for contributions. If you require payment, please know as a professional writer myself, I totally understand, and will miss you. However, if you have a business that fits our Florida Fly Fishing needs, I will gladly consider your submission and will place your ad in the body of it as compensation, or elsewhere in the publication we both agree to.

SOME THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

Our reason for being is: Only Florida – Only Fly Fishing

We will not accept anything that does not apply to the above. It must be about fly fishing in Florida waters and those considered by law to be such. Leave from Miami to go to Bimini? Great. Nope, can’t use it. (Why didn’t you invite me?) Want to feature a brick and mortar business outside of the state? Nope. In other words: Only Florida.

There are a few images we won’t show:

  • Gaffed fish

  • Fish held by the lip, like bass tournament guys do.

  • Political slogans, etc. I retain the right to remove or blur any that may be in the photo. It’s fishing; let’s keep it that way.

  • Non-fly fishing tackle.

No AI. Wouldn’t know what to do with it anyway.

TEXT

1.       All submissions must be in English.
2.       Shoot for no more than 3,000 words Get with me first if it would be substantially longer.
3.       Use any basic typeface, preferably in 12-point size.
4.       Do not format your paragraphs. That’s for me to do.
5.       Add a byline – your name and where you live.

Art/Photos, etc.

1.       Submit all as JPG or PSD but not PDF
2.       Don’t shrink; keep them all original size since enlarging a small image often causes it to be fuzzy and out of focus.
3.       Don’t use any photo-sharing program, just email it. Or, if you have to, use Google Docs and share it with me.
4.       Give me all the info about the photo, especially who took it and where.
